ABOUT
I'm Siobhan Heraty, a contemporary artist, based in Dublin, Ireland. I create abstract and impressionist paintings which evoke a sense of space, freedom and possibility.
Sea and sky are always an inspiration, whether calm and clear or wild and moody - I love how the ever-changing constancy feeds the soul in some way and provides a place for the mind to rest or wander awhile.
PAINTING PROCESS
I work intuitively with acrylics and mixed media, building texture, making marks and layering colour.
The initial composition of each painting usually finds its form quite quickly. After that most of my paintings go through many iterations - often changing colour completely but always retaining their original essence.
Finding light and movement is a vital part of the process for me and I know a painting is complete when it elicits that same feeling of expansion and belonging that being in nature brings.
